Hall diary

Sept 6th Embarked on Steamers and run down to Algiers opposite New Orleans and took cars for Brashear City. stoped at bayou Beauf and on the 11th we marched to Brashear city 12 miles. went into camp on the bank of Berwick bay 80 miles from New Orleans.
" 24th The 3rd & 4th Brig were consolidated. Brig Genl Lawler Comdg.
" 25th The Division crossed over the bay and went into camp 2 miles above Berwick. had considerable rain while here.
Oct 3rd Took up our line of march at 6 A.M. and went 15 miles to Camp Brisland.
" 4th Started at 6 A.M. marched 10 miles to Franklin, a very nice town on bayou Teche.
" 5th Marched at 5 A.M. passed through Franklin and went 14 miles. got two months pay to night.
" 6th Started at 6 A.M. and marched 10 miles. passed through some beautiful country. rested on the 7th & 8th.
" 9th Resumed our march at
