Hall diary

when the long roll beat. it was a false alarm.
" 29th Marched at 6 A.M. and went 10 miles where we found the ballance of the force under Genl Cox.
" 30th Resumed our march at 6 1/2 A.M. arrived at Charleston at 3 P.M. found it a very nice place on the Kanawha at the mouth of Elk river. Staid here until the 10th Nov
Nov 10th Left Charleston at 6 A.M. and went 17 miles to Polka
" 11th Marched 17 miles to Buffalo
" 12th Marched 20 miles to Ohio river
" 13th Embarked on board the Key West No. 3 and Fannie Me Burnie and proceeded down the river. in the afternoon we got four months pay. arrived at Covington Ky at dark on the 14th and lay over until 2 P.M. of the
