Page 30 - May 1, 1863 to May 13, 1863

Capturing 7 canon, 1000 prisoners and much other war material. The rebel Genl Tracy was killed. The enemy was commanded by Gen. Bowen.

2ond. Followed the retreating rebel army to Port Gibson distance 3 miles. here a bridge over a bayou was burnt.

3d. Continued chasing the flying rebs so closely did we pursue them that our advance would pass over the bridges they fired before any damage was done. Constant skirmishes was going always resulting in our favor.

4 and 5th. remained camped by the road side.

6th. Camped at big Sandy where we staid untill the 10th when we marched 13 miles and camped in a corn field by the road side.

11th. The Corps(?) of McPherson & Sherman passed us.

12th. Marched 14 miles to fourteen mile creek. our forces under McPherson whipped the rebels.

13th. Marched to Raymond. Stopped to camp in the eve but soon started again.
