Hall diary

Fort Esparanza so we could land at that place.
Dec 1st Disembarked at Decrows Point and went into camp where we staid until Jan 13th 1864.
Jan " Embarked on Mattamora and went up to Indianola on the opposite side of the bay and 15 miles from Decrows Point. we at first quartered in houses and then put up our tents.
" 19th Co C detailed for Provost Guards at at Div. H.Qrs. move down town and go into a house on Front street.
March 13th Indianola was evacuated to day at 12 Oclock by order of Genl Banks. the troops march down to Mattagorde Island. 22 of the 69th Ind. are drowned in crossing the bayou. we are on Provost Guard at Div. H Quarters Genl McClernand commands the corps.
