Hall diary

3 field Batteries and 3 siege guns together with a large amount of small arms & ammunition and forage. 12th 13th 14th was spent in loading boats and destroying the works.
15th Went on board the boats this evening.
16th Moved down to Napoleon on the Mississippi river
17th Started down the river again and arrived at Youngs Point La. on the 21st and disembarked and went into camp. we staid here 45 days doing fatigue work on the canal and mending the Levee which had been broken by the high water the river rising and overflowing the banks. We had a great deal of rain making the camp very muddy and disagreeable. A great many Soldiers died here of fevery & chronick Diorhea. Our mortar boats occasionaly shell the city of
