" 27th Morgans Divisioni, with DeCourcey Brigade in advance started out this morning at 8 Oclock going towards Chickasaw Bluffs. arrived at a bayou of the same name where we met the Enemys Pickets. we Skirmished with them until night. drove them back. had several killed and wounded in our Brigade. we lay on our arms to night. One Regt Built-breastworks for the artilery
" 28th We were aroused at daylight by the booming of heavy artilery on our extreme right. the ball being opened by A.J. & Morgan L. Smiths Divisions. we were soon in line and moved to the front. we had proceeded about 1/2 mile when the 16th was brought into line supporting the 7th Michigan Battery and
