Correspondence of Gen. Tyler Referred to in Statement of President Not on Record.


Columbus, Ohio, Dec. 22.--Adjutant General Critchfield declared tonight that he had no reason to modify his statement regarding the record of the Sixteenth Ohio volunteer infantry. He reiterated his statement that the official records of the war department furnished to Ohio, show that the regiment was honorably discharged.

The correspondence of General Tyler referred to in the statement issued from the White house General Critchfield declares is not a part of the published official records.
