Officer's Coat and Sash
Web Author's Notes:
The officer's coat and silk sash, pictured below, were owned by Milton Mills, Captain of Company K, 90-day regiment, of Company D, 3 year regiment, and then promoted to Major of the regiment in 1863, while in Confederate prison in Vicksburg or Jackson, Mississippi, after being captured at the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou on December 29, 1862. Major Mills is the great-great grandfather of the author of this website. The items are owned by and in the possession of Major Mills' descendants.

The coat is lined, retains all of its buttons along with the symbol of an army major on the epaulettes.
