Bowie Knife of Cpl. Silas N. Coe, Company G

Obtained from a for sale Internet auction site, this image of a Bowie knife, believed to have been carried by Cpl. Silas N. Coe, Company G, is described as: Knife has 11.5" single-edged clipped-end blade with 1.5" choil, stamped on left ricasso D.A. Scott with forged steel S-form quillon/guard, octagonal slightly tapered rosewood grip with rectangular German silver escutcheon on left side, engraved S.N. Coe with 0.8" German silver front collar and oval German silver pommel plate attached with hand-made hexagonal brass capstan nut, all with fine old polished patina, total length 16.9". Includes original black sewn leather sheath with 0.75" German silver throat, all-over a forged sheet copper interior, total length 11.6"
