of Cumberland Gap on
March on the 11th of March returning the same day marching 24 miles. The next on the 21st going on what is called the Harlan road. The force was four Regts of Infantry and one Section of 9th Ohio Battery. we got within about 2 miles of the Gap. drive in the rebel pickets and bivouacked for the night.
" 22nd Skirmished most all day and in the evening moved our position about one mile to the right where we bivouacked for the night
" 23rd Returned to camp by a circuitous road making about 34 miles in all
March Left the Ford and moved
" 28th back acrocss the river 3 miles and camped on a ridge near Mrs. Pattons
