ALEXANDRIA

Today, the 16th Ohio, on board the steamship John H. Groesbeck, having spent the night tied up on the Red River at the mouth of Black Bayou, resumed its trip toward Alexandria, Louisiana, sent there to provide reinforcement to Gen. Nathaniel Banks' retreating army. The boat arrived at Alexandria at dusk and the troops immediately disembarked, spending the night on the riverbank.
