MORGAN'S DIVISION RESTS AT ITS MANCHESTER ENCAMPMENT - DAY 4

On this day, General Morgan rested his weary brigades that had just made a daring march from Cumberland Gap to join DeCourcey's brigade near Manchester, Kentucky. The entire division was preparing to resume their desperate march to freedom the next day while bands of Confederate cavalry were always nearby, sometimes harassing the advance pickets.

Pvt. Newt Gorsuch of Company B tells us that Col. DeCourcy made a short speech to his troops.
