This image of an unknown steamboat on Bayou Teche near St. Martinville gives us some idea of what it may have been like at the time of the Second Bayou Teche Campaign. Due to the narrowness of the bayou, one would assume that during wartime, any force using the bayou for boat transportation would have to ensure control of both sides of the bayou.
