This is the original discharge document given to Pvt. Henry File upon his mustering out of the 16th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on October 31, 1864, at Camp Chase (near Columbus), Ohio. Note the stamp indicating Pvt. File was paid a bounty of $100 as an incentive to his original enlistment.
