Invitation to Company K Reunion

This is an invitation for a reunion of Company K, 16th OVI, 3-year regiment. It was in the possession of Major Milton Mills who no doubt received the invitation in his capacity as former Major of the regiment. The full regiment held frequent annual reunions many of which are documented on this website on the Reunion Index Page.

GENERAL ORDER
No. 1.

Headquarters Co. K, 16th Regt., O.V.I.
Canaan, Ohio, September 14th, 1882

Company K, 16th Regt., O. V. I., will make immediate preparation for the march, with 40 rounds of ammunition in Cartridge Boxes, and three day’s rations in Haversacks. The Company will parade in column of sections, left in front, at full distance, at Canaan, O., on Saturday, October 7th, 1882, at 10 o’clock A. M., to celebrate the First Reunion of Co. K, being 21 years from the date of its organization.

Yourself and Family are most cordially invited to attend. The citizens of Canaan will open their hearts and their homes to entertain all for several days. The Canaan Cornet Band, Charley Feeman’s Martial Band and a Glee Club will dispense music for the occasion. Come! And let us have an enjoyable time on the 21st birthday of old Co. K. An early reply is requested.
